The Silk Road is one of the world's oldest and most historically important trade routes and it had a variety of influences on the culture of China, Central Asia and the West. In this tour, you will discover how ancient Chinese traders delivered the silk to the west and realise the huge variation between modernised cities and rural areas in China. Along the way, we will show you many famous and popular tourist destinations around China, such as the renowned Great Wall in Beijing, the Terracotta Army in Xi’an, the amazing Mogao Caves in Dunhuang, the hottest Flaming Mountain in Turpan, the biggest Asian Bazaar in Kashgar, witness the most colourful ethnic variety in Urumqi and complete your journey in Shanghai - the most westernised metropolis of China.

Day 1 UK - Beijing.
Depart the UK for your flight to Beijing.

Day 2 Beijing.
On arrival you will be greeted by our representative in Beijing and transferred to your hotel for 3 nights. Rest of the day at your leisure.

Day 3 Beijing.
Today you will have a full day tour including Tian’anmen Square, Forbidden City and Summer Palace. B/L

Day 4 Beijing. After your breakfast, you will be taken to visit the Great Wall at Mutianyu Section which has fewer tourists with double - way cable cars.

Day 5 Beijing - Xi’an.
Today you will visit Temple of Heaven in the morning. After lunch, be transferred to the airport for your flight to Xi’an. Upon arrival, be met and transferred to your hotel for 2 nights and visit Hangyang Tombs en route.

Day 6 Xi’an.
After breakfast, you will have a full day tour including Terracotta Warriors, Big Wild Goose Pagoda, City Wall and Great Mosque.

Day 7 Xi’an - Dunhuang.
In the morning, we will transfer you to the airport for your flight to Dunhuang.
Dunhuang. Upon arrival at Dunhuang, our representative will transfer to the hotel for 1 night. In the afternoon visit Singing Sand Mountain and Crescent Spring.

Day 8 Dunhuang.
After your breakfast, a full day tour including Mogao Grottoes, Jade Gate Pass and Han Great Wall.
Dunhuang - Turpan. After dinner, you will be taken to railway station for an overnight train to Turpan.

Day 9 Turpan
Your train arrives at Turpan in the morning. We will then transfer you to the hotel for 1 night. After a short break, visit Ancient City of Gaochang and Jiaohe, then visit the Bizaklik Thousand Buddha Caves, Flaming Mountains, Erming Minaret, Astana - Karakhoja Ancient Tombs and Karez Well. In the evening, enjoy a traditional dance performance.

Day 10 Turpan - Urumqi.
After breakfast, you will be taken to Urumqi by a private transfer. Urumqi. Upon arrival at Urumqi, visit Xijiang Museum before transferring to the airport for your flight to Kashgar. Urumqi - Karshgar. Upon arrival, you will be met and transferred to the hotel in Karshgar for 2 nights.

Day 11 Karshgar.
Today, you will have a full day tour including ID Kah Mosque, the Apak Hoja Tomb and home visit to a local family, as well as the Sunday Bazaar.

Day 12 Karshgar - Urumqi.
In the morning, visit Karakol Lake. After you will be transferred to the airport for your flight back to Urumqi. On arrival, stay at the hotel in Urumqi for 1 night.

Day 13 Urumqi - Shanghai.
A visit to Nanshan Pasture in Urumqi before departing for your flight to Shanghai. On arrival, you will be taken to the hotel in Shanghai for 2 nights.

Day 14 Shanghai.
After breakfast at hotel, visit Shanghai Museum, Yu Garden, Jade Buddha Temple and the Old Town area.

Day 15 Shanghai - UK.
In the morning, you will be taken to the airport for your return flight to the UK.
